As a Journalist who served for 20 years, Dr. Laurie had a couple of experiences that made her cognizant of the fact that those people who had gone through tragic events needed long term support. She then enrolled in a graduate school, earned two doctorates and established a private practice dealing with trauma and post-traumatic stress and anxiety.
Some of the programs that she has rolled to help victims heal include; a program for teenagers whose fathers were killed in the World Trade Center, a support program for people who had lost homes in the Hurricane Sandy; she too lost her home, and a program for Parkland Community Shooting.
She has written the book “The Five Gifts” which was voted as one of the best books of 2018 by the Library Journal. Dan Rather has written the Foreword to the Book.
Join in as Dr. Laurie shares her wealth of knowledge and wisdom particularly in the area of trauma and anxiety. We dive deeper and discuss 5 gifts that help heal from trauma, how humility can stop you from the, “why me”, The 10,000 joys and the 10,000 sorrows and much more.
